Around us

The location of the Place O Venturo

is very comfortable to explore the entire Ortegal area and is at the foot of the Atlantic coast and the Ria de Ortigueira.

Sea and mountains, forests and meadows, fallen waters and hidden shelters, hundreds of trails through the most spectacular areas, dozens of beaches for all tastes,…. gastronomy, surfing, maritime walks, horse riding, vermouth sessions, popular festivals, open-air concerts, festivals, sardiñadas and churrascadas (sardin and meat barbeques)… places of ornithological interest, underwater and sea surface fish, diving, mythological routes … warm nights on the terraces of cafes with views of the river, tranquility to enjoy the rhythm of relaxed life … Everything is ready here to spend unforgettable vacations.

The slogan of the Ortiguiera tourist portal says – “Ortiguiera is much more.” And it’s true – there are many things to see here. But among the amazing sites there are those that stand out for their fame, some are centuries old and others relatively recent.

Cabo Ortegal:

it is located on the Galician Atlantic coast. From it, and up to the Portuguese border, the most jagged coast of the Spanish coast extends, which in turn, constitutes the western limit of the Bay of Biscay. Cabo Ortegal is a site much visited by tourists who appreciate not only the spectacular views from the lighthouse patio but also for its famous Kilometer Zero - the point where the Cantabrian Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean.

Estaca de Bares:

it is the most Nordic site in the Iberian Peninsula. It is another emblematic place in the area. Until now it is not very clear where the exact point of the border between the Cantabrian Sea and the Atlantic Ocean is. According to some sources, priority is given to Estaca de Bares, but without a doubt if you want to become for a few minutes the most Nordic Spaniard in Spain - Estaca de Bares is the most suitable place for this.

Cliffs of Vixía de Herbeira:

it is said that they are the cliffs with the highest elevation above sea level in continental Europe, reaching 613 meters above sea level. Due to its height and almost vertical slope, it is a place where you have to be very careful, especially when there is a strong wind that is quite common here. But nevertheless, it is a place that must be visited by going to the most mythical and spiritual place in Ferrolterra - Sanctuary of San Andres de Teixido.

San Andrés de Teixido:

The Galician saying says it: A San Andrés de Teixido vai de morto or que non foi de vivo. Or meaning: to which the one who did not go when he was alive will have to go dead. The saying that says everything. So - you must be there!

Mirador de Coitelo:

an imposing viewpoint that boasts having the Best Bank (bench) in the World, from where you can see impressive Loiba cliffs and magical sunsets above “Tres Hermanos” (Os tres Agullóns) that appear on the shield of Noble Villa de Ortiguiera
